Update: Family and Domestic Violence Leave
As of 1 February 2023 new laws apply regarding Family and Domestic Violence Leave.
The National Employment Standards entitlement has been increased from 5 days’ unpaid leave to 10 days’ paid leave per 12-month period for domestic violence victims to deal with family and domestic violence.
Changes to this entitlement come into effect as of 1 February 2023 for businesses with 15 or more employees and from 1 August 2023 for small businesses with less than 15 employees.
Employees of small businesses remain entitled to 5 days’ unpaid Family and Domestic Violence Leave until 1 August 2023.
