Queensland labour hire licensing scheme from April 2018
12-January-2018
The mandatory labour hire licensing scheme is designed to protect workers, users and providers of labour hire services from exploitation and ensure the integrity of the labour hire industry in Queensland.
Commencing on 16 April 2018, the scheme will require all labour hire providers to be licensed.
This process will include satisfying a fit and proper person test to establish they are capable of providing labour hire services in compliance with relevant laws, paying a license fee, proving their business financial viability and regular reporting of operations. Strong penalties will apply for breach of obligations. The scheme will also establish a labour hire licensing compliance unit with a field services inspectorate with responsibility for awareness, monitoring and enforcement functions.
Users of labour hire services and workers will be able to understand their rights and obligations, check if a provider is licensed, lodge complaints and view compliance reports online.
