Dairy Capability Framework – Mapping the capability needs for the Australian dairy workforce
2-October-2020
Dairy Australia has commenced a project titled The Dairy Capability Framework – Mapping the capability needs for the Australian dairy workforce.
This project will speak to farmers and industry experts in workforce development to identify and document capability needs for people working on-farm, as highlighted in the Australian Dairy Plan which was released earlier this week: https://www.dairyplan.com.au
The thoughts, perceptions and experiences of people of the dairy industry, collected through this piece of formal research, lead by the Learning and Development team at Dairy Australia, will then be used to create a Capability Framework for on-farm work as a second step later in the year.
The Dairy Capability Framework will provide a guide for people building a career in dairy.
Alongside the broad range of Australian dairy industry learning and capability development opportunities offered, people in dairy will have a tool for navigating how to build themselves for building their dairy career.
The dairy industry leaders will also have a guide to understand where the focus of capability development opportunities should be.
The framework will stand as an example of best practice learning and capability development design for workforce capability planning amongst the international dairy industry and other agricultural industries.
The project seeks to engage with broad range industry stakeholders – individuals will participate in an online focus group in October, followed by a questionnaire to collect and analyse information to develop the Capability Framework.
